The pounding of hammers, and power drills echoed in my brain and shattered the peace that reigned. Was I going insane? Why was there thunderous noise inside my head? When I finally got a reality check and realized the noise was outside, sleepy-eyed I peered through the window and noticed my neighbours battening and protecting their property in preparation for Tropical Storm Earl which is now a hurricane.
